Rennard is one of several characters in Synodic Reboot who basically has a second self on another planet he switches consciousness to when he sleeps (a concept known as dreamselves in Sburb, dunno how familiar you are with the inspiration comic Homestuck).
In this particular instance, some sort of powerful entity used a walkie talkie he was near to take control of his body and write down some mysterious code. This control affects both of his selves, which is why there are two scenarios overlaid here happening at the same time.
