A remnant of the ancient dragon race, the sky serpents tend to congregate above the aptly named Thundersville, the capitol of the darkened half of Cloudsdruff widely known as Shadros (after Shadra, the titanic being who left it in such a state countless years ago). The sky serpents have a rubber-like substance coating each scale and the insides of their mouth, allowing their bodies to store and conduct electricity without harming them. The metal plates this serpent wears are an addition from the powerful beings who subjugated her for their own ends. Most times only cunning and supremely powerful beings such as vampires, able to shift between enormous bat and human shape, can succeed in capturing such beasts, their undead bodies relatively untouched by the electricity, stores of rejuvenating blood allowing burn wounds to heal until the dragon tires enough to be caught in netting that slowly tightens and constricts.
Reports have started to trickle into Cloudsdruff's intact half, (named Lirros after Lirrin, sister of Shadra and savior of the realm when she sealed him away in the underworld) about this growing army of sky serpents, and efforts have been made to retrieve some of these creatures both to protect themselves and the creatures themselves, who by all accounts are not treated particularly humanely by their sinister masters. Unfortunately, short of the mountains twisted by a seed of corruption during the war of darkness a thousand years ago, thunderstorms are not prolific in Lirrinos, and such efforts are proving difficult. Those who have been either rescued from captivity or captured from the skies of Thundersville at great personal risk are housed in a sky serpent sanctuary within the boundaries of the scarred mountains known as the Dunnsparr Cliffs, with the assistance of the neighboring city of the magi. The resourceful magi provide a protective bubble that helps protect those who run the Sanctuary from all manner of nasty beasts that hold onto a meager existence in the hostile terrain. Studying the magic of the dragons has resulted in the invention of storm-spheres that help accumulate thunder clouds and encourage storms to occur more often in the area. It is hoped in time that the existing wild populations of this unique dragon will migrate to the relative safety of this new biosphere, protecting future generations from subjugation.
