Indeed. Possessing one personally, I can tell you how big it actually is. Not very big, but bigger than most people expect. Its 4 feet long and weighs 9 1/2 pounds.
And thanks. :)
Heh...I'd like to see me draw a pre-war Mosin Nagant too. But I can't draw worth a crap. My friend Rinatar drew this for me. XD

Ah, the war era Nagants are reliable and powerful too. They're all 7.62x54mm in caliber, so they have the same hitting power. Now then, the pre-war Nagants undoubtedly look nicer and are better finished, due to the simple fact that there was no rush to get them made. Once WWII kicked off, they needed the rifles as soon as humanly possible...in fact, the Tula arsenal was literally giving the rifles to soldiers as soon as they reached the end of the assembly line and were carried right into the front lines.
Reliability wise, they'd be equal...I have two war era Nagants, an M91/30 made in 1942 and an M38 made in 1944 and both are solid, rugged weapons that have never given me any trouble. They look rough, especially my 91/30, but they perform every time. Hell, I'll bet I could carve a bullet out of stone and fire it without hurting them. XD
Speaking of, did you know that the U.S. actually adopted the Mosin Nagant as an official issue service rifle?

It was a very short period of service, but yeah. And I've found that a lot of the War-era nagants are much less reliable due to being manufactured too quickly and quality control not being up to the same standard due to pumping out mass units with substandard materials and equipment.
Ah, okay then.
Yeah, that's true. That can be said of any weapon mass produced during the war, except maybe the Mauser 98...then again, that's such a damn good design and rather mechanically simple one its hard to mess up.
Still, my war era Nagants have never given me trouble. I just depends on the luck of the draw which one you get.

I love the Dragunov but the price tag and availability of the PSL is a bit more appealing. Plus the PSL stocks seem to fit me better not really sure why because there not really all that different. As soon as I finish my 7inch barreled AR15 I'll invest in a PSL maybe a Dragunov if the right deal presents itself. I've got a 33 hex receiver Mosin Nagant http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3146084/x and I LOVE the 7.62x54r round and the thought of a semiauto in 54r makes me giggle just thinking about it.

I know what you mean...my PSL was $550 where as my Dragunov was $1500...and this was 4 years ago. Now a days, Dragunovs start at around $3000.
Whoa...7 inch barreled AR15? Nice. XD
Ooh, a hex reciever Nagant eh? Not bad. I myself want to find a Remington made Nagant:

My local shop has a few PSLs in for around $650
Yep the AR should be around 25inches over all length!
I just saw a Remington Nagant the other day when I was my local gun shop picking up my .22 silencer after having it repainted, unfortunately someone snagged it before I could get a good look at it and snag it for myself.

I've been thinking about it but I want my AR done first. My local shop is really good about having PSLs in stock for around $650ish so I'm to worried about it. Granted as soon as I pull the trigger(no pun intended) on the Noveske upper receiver system and the SBR paperwork, Murphy's law will strike and I won't be able to find a PSL to save my life and when I do finally find one they'll cost as much as a Dragunov.
I've got the lower done it's a Tactical Innovations T15BDX with standard GI trigger.
http://www.tacticalinc.com/t15bdx-b.....64d94154b5e7c9
with a Magpul CTR stock and Magpul MIAD pistol grip. And I've got 6 Magpul PMAGS 4 30 rounders and 2 20 rounders.

I want to run a Noveske 7.5" Diplomat upper with the VIS monolithic receiver.

Ah, understandable. I'm focusing all my efforts on an M14 for right now, even though I'm also itching for a Mossberg 500 with a short barrel, as well as an AK-74U.
Oooh, yeah, it will. Trust me, I know all about Murphy's Law kicking one in the ass. it kicked me not long ago and has kicked me in the past. The one time I didn't mind it kicking me was regarding the Tokarev SVT-40. I was about to buy one for only $350, but right beside the SVT I was looking at was a Dragunov Tiger. Immediately I told the guy I would buy said Tiger and I did. SVT-40s have never been $350 since that day (they're all $900 at the least), but that Tiger was the far, far better investment. That is still the one and only Dragunov I have ever seen in real life, and now she sits atop my gunsafe as a display piece (yes, I shoot it too. She's just far too nice to leave all cooped up in a safe. XD)
Wow. You've got quite a nice set up going there. Normally such a small overall size in any rifle caliber would be a bit "too small", but with the light kick of 5.56mm/.223, that won't be a problem. Let me know when you get it built, I'd like to see it. =3

Sux about the the SVT but the Dragunov was a way better IMHO!! I've only ever seen one Dragunov in person. and god was it beautiful!!!!! I would most defiantly agree with you that she's is way too beautiful to keep cooped up in the safe. I've been thinking about doing the same Noveske upper except in 6.8SPC but you might be right about it being too small for the bugger cal plus its way harder to find. Here's a video link of an AR that's similar to what I'm building except its full auto and has a Magpul UBR stock. http://www.youtube.com/user/BigAmer.....10/MqXRKz3EvdI
and http://www.youtube.com/user/BigAmer.....14/G83IOyH7x90
And here is my channel as soon as I get my AR done I'll post it there and let you know. http://www.youtube.com/user/JakeTWolf1911

Heh. Yeah. Basically, if you ever encounter a Dragunov, buy it, no matter what it'll set you back...even if you have to sell the car you took to the gunstore/gunshow. XD
And yeah...her sitting on top my gun safe just looks bad ass. I build model airplanes too, so soon I'm gonna put a MiG-29 Fulcrum model next to it. =3
Ah, 6.8mm is a good caliber. But yeah, likely too big for that small a design that you have in mind.
I'll check these out, and that sounds good to me. =3

Also the Noveske 7.5" Diplomat can still hold sub MOA. A friend has this upper and I've seen him do it, also Noveske's web sight says the same. ("This weapon has shot sub MOA at 100 yards in group testing with a 4x Leupold scope using Hornady 75 gr ammunition.") The barrels they make have polygonal rifling which is part of why they can do this.
