At the close of the Second Inheritance War, the original YZN-27V was destroyed during the Battle of the Space Elevator. Its pilot, Lieutenant Kim Rekkoa, was unfortunately killed as well, at the hands of his former friend, Prince Tai Veretine. This single event would be the catalyst for the ceasefire agreement between the Solar Union and Jovian Empire forces, and then eventually the Earth Accords which ended the war.
A significant portion of the Earth Accords pertained to the sharing of technologies between the two disparate nations, and as a proof of concept, Prince Veretine personally commissioned the salvage and refit of the YZN-27V Starlight. He would discover that the Silhouette's memory banks still contained engrams of Kim Rekkoa's piloting data, as well as several thousand hours of voice transmissions. In essence, Kim's soul remained inside of the worn machine. Designating the Starlight as his personal unit, Prince Veretine ordered the construction of a shipboard AI modeled after his late friend to assist with onboard functions, such as precision targeting and extreme-G maneuvers.
Many parts of the original Starlight had either been destroyed during the battle, or were heavily damaged by passing space debris, and were thus replaced by next-generation components based on Silhouette technology shared between the Solar Union and the Jovian Empire. As such, the inner frame of the machine more resembles the larger, often more heavy-duty Silhouettes of the Empire, while the external armor is more in line with the blockier style of the Solar Union, and its massive suite of maneuvering verniers comes from leftover components from the scrapped Endless Project.
The result is an extremely high-performance machine capable of operating at full capacity in almost any theater of combat.
