The YZN-27V Starlight was developed by the Noblesse Foundation's Innovate Division as an experiment in Psycolink technology, an improvement over the original Brainwave Link framework from the Inheritance Era. Where Silhouettes equipped with the Brainwave Link technology would only have access to enhanced input fidelity for the pilot, the improved Psycolink allows the user even better input fidelity as well as access to Psyco-bits, unmanned drones controlled by the pilot's brainwaves to assist in combat. However, in order to fully utilize the Psycolink, the pilot has to be deemed compatible with the machine. An incompatible pilot may not be able to use the Psycolink, or cause a feedback loop and disable the Silhouette in question.

The Endless Program is an initiative within the Sol Union Armory Workshop to produce high-performance, specialized Silhouettes utilizing the already-exceptional Starlight as a base. Seven variants were planned, each named for a racetrack from Old Earth, each designed to excel in a certain capacity. However, only four were produced as one-of-a-kind option parts for Starlight itself, with the other three either having never finished development, or never begun completely.

The Nordschleife is the second of the four variants actually produced by the Endless Program, and it fulfills a role left unfilled by the rest of the SUDF's Silhouette fleet. Designed as a long-range fast attack unit, the Nordschleife is capable of taking on large, capital-type vessels without assistance, and the Nordschleife does this using its primary weapon: the Mega-Condenser Cannon, as well as a slew of missiles and a pair of storm fausts mounted to the unit's shield, all attached to a modular Sub-Arm system. The lack of any apparent close-range options is mitigated by the two Sub-Arms mounted on the Nordschleife's front skirting armor, which carries a pair of beam katars which it can use to dispatch enemy Silhouettes that stray too close for any of the Nordschleife's weapons to be effective against.
