Cheerleader Peg

On an episode of Goof Troop , we discover that Peg and Goofy were both on the cheer squad at Spoonerville High. Peg wore this outfit, and because of this I have no memory at all of what Goofy wore. Goofy inadvertently spoiled football star Pete’s chance at getting the winning touchdown. I see this as a real Marty McFly moment for the Goof ; had it been different he would have gotten Peg instead of his rival Pete.
At least I like to think so.

It never confused me as to how Pete ended up with Peg, besides, it was pretty clear who wore the pants in the house. The thing that always stumped me though was how did Goofy, of all Disney characters, end up a single father. Throughout the Goof Troop show, and subsequent animated films, we're never shown even a photo of Max's mother, or her relatives. Then again, in the Goof Troop movies we don't see Pistol, or Peg, suggesting possible divorce and split custody.
A lot of room for speculation here. It could have been a storytelling decision , a method of focusing on the relationship between Goofy & Max more sharply. I fantasized that Gooy's wife was killed in a tragic cartoon anvil accident. Or , ( and I like this one better) she's some sort of adventurous archaeologist who disappeared while exploring. This way she could have shown up back on the show in what would've been a surprise story. It would also be extremely cool & kinky if she were Peg's twin sister , huh? Ooh , I like this...!
