So, there is a little story to this. After getting a taste for more epic pictures involving Karmal with Dolphianas recent work, I was eager to see what other artists could do with a similar idea but didn't approch anyone specific for quite a while, just because of general busyness.
It was at the CCXP in cologne with my wife, when going through the artist alleys I came across an artist, the art of which I knew rather well from a plethora of (mostly german) Pen & Paper roleplay releases, who had a knack for drawing antropomorphic animals, even if she wasn't quite identifiyng as furry or part of the community. Her Artwork was amazing and so I approached her for a piece about Karmal.
To my general enjoyment, she was very patient and interested not only in how my character looked, but also what his story and personality were! So despite the background buzz of the convention we had a little conversation, where she really dug into understanding Karmal before starting to work on the commission. That was a very nice and rather unusual experience and gave me high hopes for the next day :)
So when I returned the next day, this is what I saw and man, was I SATISFIED. The intricate detail on the robes actually became kanon because of the picture, the pose is dynamic but most of all ... the lighting is inexplicably good. Just look at how light and shadow play and interact across all the clothing and even the fur. She managed to get the effects to a blinding level even though the screen would only provide so much light (Thinking about it, I really have to look at this one on my OLED ... the contrast must be incredible).
Interested in maybe trying more art in the furry direction, she created a furaffinity account to at least upload this picture and I am happy to shamelessly plug her new account. If you see this, go give her a watch, just trust me on this!
This will by the way probably be the last depiction of Karmal as a small cat / big cat hybrid. After fighting with myself over it and consulting those close to me, I am finally committing to go full panther. This is not going to be a retcon. It is going to be an actually story-grounded transformation, designating Karmals change from Phase 3 (Grey Master) to Phase 4 (Anathema). And if you don't know what that means based on dozens of my rather cryptic descriptions especially on my scraps-folder pictures. Stay tuned, I might actually post somewhat of an explanatory piece some time after the new ref sheet is done.
