(Don't say it sucks and then apologize) Remember that last thing I updated with? I certainly hope not, but that was me showing that i was taking steps in learning to paint. You know, entirely digitally. Here's the exact same approach taken to a more completed end. It's not super polished, but it was at the point where I had to stop and start working on other things and I thought it would be good to show here to get some outside commentary. Any ideas? Eh? If not, I'll find a way to extract it from you, like posting ludicrous amounts of rat di--Look help me out here, okay?
(Don't say it sucks and apologize) Anythecrap, if this feels somehow familiar, then GOOD. This is a joke upon a renaissance masterpiece by some painter-inventor-scholar guy named Leonardo. If you can't remember what the original looked like or have unfortunately never seen it, then use the Internet, if you have it, to find a good image. When/if you do, you'll notice that the outfit our young Florentine mustilid is wearing isn't as detailed as the original figure. Well I wonder why.
sorry this sucks DAMNIT

YES!!! I know, right? I poked around to see if somebody had done something like this, but I couldn't find anything except a couple of pencil sketches that never got any farther. Anyhow, it would be pretty cool if this became a genre.
Anyhow, I decided to go with this kind of posing, even though it's a departure from the source material, because it introduces some new themes and becomes it's own theme. While I was working on it, I realized that it raised a lot of questions. I made the woman's eyes more wild instead of serene just to give it all a slightly uncomfortable edge.

I actually did take a beginning painting class a long time ago. I used oils! IT GOT EVERYWHERE. Sadly, I didn't learn too much technique from the class, because that wasn't what the instructor wanted to teach. I wasn't too happy about that, I'm still kind of sore, because now I'm having to learn it all on my own. Maybe I should actually check out some instructional vids. I certainly wouldn't mind spending some time with Bob Ross and company.
Anyway, thanks.
Anyway, thanks.
The biggest thing that bothered me about the Redwall novels was the dimensions of the characters. Badgers are big, mice are on the smaller side, but all the details are just foggy, and it confuses me when the characters interact. I mean, the author himself confessed he doesn't really quite know.
