I know I wasn't going to post my comics on FA anymore, but I just had to share this one with anyone who doesn't already read it. I'm very proud of how this one turned out - it took me three days to create it, after getting the "inspiration" on Monday. While the situation is metaphorical, it's not far off from how I felt after finally getting the damn job.
You can find the full-size version (one that you can actually read :P not my doing) and the rest of the comic strip at:

Thanks, and enjoy!

Oh, I know this feeling.
Applied for a job putting together wire bundles for Black Hawk Helicopters. Had to fill out two sets of papers that day. Approved, went to a little test-taking orientation type thing a week later. Then we had to go to a different employment agency, take a drug test, and fill out THEIR paperwork, which is basically another application. Got a call to come back to said employment agency and had to take some tests(eye test, hand/eye coordination, etc.). APPROVED AND HIRED(sorta)! Training starts October(2 months away). No, training starts November. Training might start December. Training starts January. Training actually started in February.(Only way I knew of the cancellations was because I knew the teacher's brother. Nobody contacted us about the delays.)
One person in my class had actually put in their 2-week notice at their old job with the November training in mind. I opted for cashing in my vacations, which was a much better choice, and allowed me to make SURE there would be training. The classmate was able to retract her 2-week notice, but her bosses were mad.
Classes finished in 3 weeks, not everybody got the job(major bummer for those who didn't get it), thankfully I was hired on. We all then had to take another drug test.
Job started and was doing well, plenty of training going on. Then after 45 days, they decided I wasn't fast enough and fired me. ALL THAT HOOP-JUMPING AND WAITING FOR NOTHING!
4 months of unemployment later, I found a new job at a clothing store. Applied on a whim, and officially had a new job one phone call later. The simplicity of that hiring process astounded me after my last experience. It pays just a dollar less per hour than the wire-bundling job.
For being so relevant to me, this comic gets a fav.

Oh man I can definitely feel for ya through that. But at least you finally started that job after all the hoop-jumping, even if they let you go a short while later. With my application at the Post Office, I jumped through all their hoops (background check, fingerprinting, drug testing, two orientations, two written exams, psych profile and exam), I was finally told that I started on Monday.
Monday afternoon, just as I'm heading out the door to go to work, I get a call that says I'm not hired due to some obscure possibility in my psych profile that I was un-hireable.
The problem that kept me from being hired? Severe depression brought about by being unemployed for eight months. Sucker-punch'd.
