The fact that you recognize that routine AND the cartoon tells me one of two things about you. One, you're in my age range OR two, your parents gave you the benefit of a good education, cartoon-wise.

I'm 40, not canadian, but italian.

I did watch the subbed cartoons in my youth, both Rocky and Bullwinkle and everything they presented.

Though it was usually the dog professor Peabody. Also Aesop and other fairy tales presented in a mocking/amusing way.

They translated little else.

But then again this was something like 30+ years ago and it was reruns and i haven't sought them since.

I honestly only remember the sketch because it was one of those nagging gags that get repeated hundreds of times.

Though i don't honestly remember if Bullwinkle ever got the right hat. 😂

In answer to your last comment, no. Bullwinkle never got the routine correct. I believe there were at least 10 different ways he screwed up. (One included him pulling a tiger out. LOL.) I actually saw the cartoons brand new (I'm 64 years old.) and enjoyed every one of them. Like you, I loved Mr. Peabody and the "Fractured Fairy Tales". The creator of Rocky & Bullwinkle had one of the most warped senses of humor I believe I've ever seen and I loved it. LOL.
