My bad I know about the multiple world ending events and seeing as only 100 survivors with most of the planets crust messed up it is one of them now, what I meant to say, is on the line of how this feels like 4-17 -> 4-18 as Feratta has an evil side to get us int eh feels at a key moment
This is pretty odd. Really high tech, but no colonization of anything beyond the planet's surface, and no more than about a hundred people in space even after a good bit of warning that there was a potentially planet-killing vanta-white doom sphere in their lap for a while.
This civilization really didn't care for the idea of leaving home.

When your tech level is at a stage where you can choose to live in a virtual space, expanding and colonizing IRL is kind of a moot point.
Also the orb was growing at a fairly slow rate, they weren't ready for it to suddenly start multiplying. :p And even then, how do you evacuate 20 billion people? Easier to just upload as many as you can to the cloud and hope you find a way to stop the thing before you lose the planet.

question for Feretta
why in the second panel do more than half of them look "pissed" at him? even though he saved everyone else?
am i missing something here?

AH, and that would be foxxie on the left, shes got gold badges on her shoulder..
so assuming future sifi furry rankings are even remotely close to earth military, more bars on your shoulders the higher up the chain you are.
plus clothing, shes in red with the rest in orange
so again, odd one out :P

Sounds like they had plenty to rebuild their world with. But it looks like this world was rebuilding with tech more comparable with the previous world then what Fenfen's world has. Certainly not as much, but this is basically colonizing a planet that was just rebuilt.
Something tells me that not all was well in the new garden of Eden.

I mean, Alf can literally create matter from nothing, all he needs is enough time to re-dirt the entire planet, reseed the ecosystem, re-establish any material they need for getting their tech back up and running, help rebuild said tech, get cloning bays and chipset manufacturing back online for people to re-download to new bodies.. He has a lot of work to do.. :p
You can see it on this page, and Feretta clarifies in the linked comment https://www.furaffinity.net/view/15...../#cid:92310309
In the story? Not yet, no. In general? https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme.....tructure_1.png
Here's where Feretta says about Baelin:

So, these...Neuro-Chips, what are they actually? Mind-clones? Like, making continious scans of one's brain for a later clone to re-build these neural pathways?
Stil, that must be quite a message for you to one day wake up and be told you are not the real one, but 'just' a mere copy of the original person. What would such a message do to a person? Guess questioning the entire time if one is the 'real' one or not.

It's basically just an interface between the physical body and the digital backup, allowing for continuous, seamless existence between VR and real world in the case of unexpected physical body failure, such as being swallowed by a giant ball of nonexistence. Your body dies, your mind wakes up in the digital world. Assuming a host is available, you can choose to go back to the physical world, in which case your digital brain goes into hibernation and then assimilates a continued backup of your physical life as you go.
Kinda, except the copy can be reseeded into a new host. Host and digital mind cannot exist at the same time, though, so there's a hibernation system as well. If the body dies, the mind wakes up in the PATH system, if the mind goes back to the physical world, it hibernates in the PATH. The two are separate, but are always continued from the last relevant copy, so you have a continuous experience of existence.
Tidbit: In the time we've been looking at, it was very uncommon for people to actually birth new children, instead just relying on the system to continue their own existence, never worrying about growing old or dying. Just have a clone body ready to go, and you can basically live forever, either physically or in the digital world.

This reminded me of a novel I read a long time ago, where humans developed such technology and over the timespan of just a century or so, there were only people left that supported such a system, as the ones that did not support the mind-copying (like for religious reasons) would simply die out. I recall it even being mentioned some humans even had themselves flash-cloned because they got something as simole as a common cold.
So if it was just the one white sphere at first, how did the other ones grow? As Baelin's presence outside the sphere doing that? Also going back to what they said about two weeks for the planet to go. . . . .sure did not take long for the outer layer of the planet to almost go bye bye!
As you and others stated by saying he was the link to the entity inside to connect to us. So while these two were fighting, the apocalypse was happening all over the planet. . . .if only we saw everyone's reactions; civilians, military, governments, scientists, anyone that was in the conference room that did not make it onto the ship. Well, many more near ends to go!
Ah, right on. Now out of curiosity, are the backups running or static? By that I mean, if you die, what do you experience? Death, and then a gap of time, and then respawn when you get a new body, or is there a VR environment where the backups are actively processing and experiencing time passing in a matrix environment while they wait to be respawned, or are they just saved as a backup, experiencing no time passing at all, until they're downloaded into a new body?
