Asheru is mostly Sword and Dagger trainee, and isn’t familiar with the stafff. Her tribe didn’t use them much, at least without a spear head on them. The young lord came from an urban area where staff fighting was excercise, when one wasn’t allowed live steel above a pugilist in public. The Armsman trainee him for a few years how to defend himself, and it always started with staff work, so while Asheru can easily hold her own against the young lord in sparring with swords, she is at an experience disadvantage with the staff so far. It’s from getting hit that she will learn and get better.

Learning can be painful. She will only be stronger !
