Just progress photos from my Kaiju Tail.
I'm making one that matches my fursona next. This was done to teach myself how to do it.
I bought a cheap pool noodle, cut it in half, put four evenly spaced notches in there for flexibility and shape, and I shaved the tail end to the point. In the future I will pay more attention to point- it's not nearly fine enough.
