Commission for NomadicObserver
The description and title were shamelessly stolen from him!
This was a meaningful drawing for me for many of the reasons he wrote, thanks again for commissioning me for this JJ <3
Imagine what it would be like a century after Apollo 11 on July 20, 2069. If we haven’t destroyed ourselves, we could be one day coming back to the Moon for permanent stay and even go beyond. Here a lone astronaut decides to walk to this place. Coming to the very spot where humanity made it’s very first steps beyond Earth. At this landing site is the bottom half of the lunar module left behind still intact. The old flag planted for the nation that led the mission. And the footprints left undisturbed of the very first humans to set foot on the Moon, Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin. While surveying the site, the astronaut looks up to the blackness of space and sees a rising blue marble of our very home, the Earth. It shows no borders or nations, just a single planet of connecting continents, wisps of clouds, and a vast ocean covering most of the surface. A very fragile place that has more meaning to us than we take for granted. Seeing this world from another, gives the lone wanderer a time to reflect. To see what an amazing accomplishment Apollo was and the gifts it brought to us. Our first steps to move beyond Earth, and many more yet to come.
In a plaque left on the moon on the Apollo 11 lander it reads:
“HERE MEN FROM THE PLANET EARTH FIRST SET FOOT UPON THE MOON JULY, 1969 A.D. WE CAME IN PEACE FOR ALL MANKIND.”
