[Piano] Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence Type
Figured I should start uploading the only 'art' I can decently do; so here's a rendition of the first piece I ever learnt off of sheet music.
Then the first piece of music I forgot how to play because I can't read sheet music.
Then the first piece that made me realise that sheet music sucks and whoever listens to me play live gets to have their own unique rendition.
Not because of artistic variance or some grande gesture.
But because I'm a dumbass who can't read music and kinda makes it up -w-

I second the previous comment, music is definitely and without a doubt an expressive art form. And who needs sheet music! You keep your composure and rhythm flowing consistently even without it. This came out very emotionally charged, and even if it's a rendition, it gives off the same vibes and flow of the original, and even people who write stuff down have a hard time capturing the soul of something. This was excellently done, and you should feel proud for playing such a beautiful piece!
Not that Mr. Sakamoto would mind- He's heard his fair share of variations and interpretations of this work by literally dozens of musicians around the world in the nearly 40 years since it was originally composed, became the most successful song to come from Japan since his uncle did so, twenty years before, with "Sukiyaki". And, as far as I'm concerned, your version is beautiful. :)
