I deeply love this style of painting, it's something I hope to do one day. It's got the sort of messy feel to it that gives it grounding, but also an almost ethereal, mystic quality, especially with the halo and the collar.

Graphical look and composition. Mostly it's just tricky ways to trick the viewer's brain, of which I've learned a scanty amount.
