So often we see ourselves as separate from the people and the world around us. We polarize everything into categories: us and them, sun and moon, black and white, the human body and the universe at large. It is so easy to focus on the lines of connection that stand out. We get caught up in minutia, swirling around in it, until we can only see one thing at a time. We tend to see the color but not the texture, the texture but not the value, the value but not the form of the connections we make and the paths we choose. The challenge is to let go of these expectations and see the whole picture. All life and inert matter are part of the same picture, and the little details in each unique piece are only a part of a larger pattern in the tapestry of existence.
