Okay, since I didn't post anything for some time (being busy with some animation), here's an experiment from that.
I wanted to show some statues. A nice Jade material seemed fine, but sadly this material didn't quite work for a life-sized statue. The dark shade in the muzzle is actually the gum and teeth showing through, and the glossy sheen eats up most of the surface detail of the actual statue.
(You can quit squinting, it doesn't feature any private parts.)
...Also, I don't have the feeling it looks like jade. Not that I have ever seen a full-size jade statue.
I ended up using a non-transparent material. The background is the EF25 Art Show. No, we don't really have statues there, in case you were wondering. But lots of other good stuff. Come by and see for yourself.

Yeah, I must admit I simply took the ready-made Jade material from Insydium's Cycles4D library. Then I noticed that the displacement hides too many features, and removed that. Then I noticed that the gloss hides features as well... and also the issue with the visible gums... and also I believe that the material is made for a smaller scale...
So ultimately I didn't fix it but replaced it, as I don't have the time to bother with materials right now. This scene wants to be rendered at EF! Maybe I'll make some other jade stuff later.
This material doesn't even use subsurface scattering but translucency. I'm sure that can be done better.

I do not know what software you use to model and render but it seems that you do not have the best results, I advise you to use another program and at the same time create different models.
I don't have a good computer, that's why the results I have are not good,
but if you have a good pc you should start working on other software.
