For this image, I was asked to tackle two IDW newcomers, Tangle and Tumble, throwing down in the streets of everyone’s favorite NotSanFransisco City Escape. I got marching orders on the pose-work that need to go into this piece, but I was free to play with the perspective of this image to my heart’s content.
First things first, since this is my first time drawing either of these two, I wanted to keep the camera angle nice and tight to the characters. I always pride myself in being able to draw anything, so I eagerly take on the chance to draw newer characters. By keeping the focus on those two, I was really able to flex a little artistic muscle and ensure both came out just right.
I also wanted to ensure the image was really dynamic. Tangle is all sots of acrobatic here, and Tumble is chewing through the pavement, scattering debris all over the place. I love the effect and I am stoked on how it all came together. I think both Characters will be fine additions to the Sonic cast and I can’t wait to see what the comic does with them next.
