I’ve said it before and I’ve said it again. I LOOOOOOOOVE drawing Nicole. I think she has one of the best designs in the entire series and her existence as a digital entity makes for some pretty sweet special effect opportunities. Not to mention her character is nothing short of amazing. There is nothing not to like with her.
So, when the Archie books revealed her “Super Form” a while back, I was absolutely floored. It makes perfect sense to give Nicole this kind of power. Not only was it a clever use of the red star rings, but Nicole is the most advanced AI on her planet. It would only make sense that she could rule the Digital Space like a god if need be. I knew right away that I’d have to add her to that endless list of “stuff I need to draw” so today, here she is.
While I go off the deep end gushing over Nicole, let me throw some love Phage’s way too. The Digital Demon is wildly entertaining. Her naive outlook on how the world works combined with her binary mentality makes for interesting dialog when contrasted with Nicole’s more free and open mind. Her fragmented speech pattern is endearing and memorable too, almost adorable even. Phage is an awesome rival.
That gets to the heart of the picture here. Nothing too over the top, just two masters of their domain vying for dominance over the ones and zeros that inhabit this place. Both looking to exert their will and control the flow of data, to alter the outcome of the conflict, to delete their opposition. Good stuff.
Overclocked Nicole is a walking special effects generator. I made some slight adjustments to her comic color scheme that I think works a little better. Overall the white and red/pink looks really good on her. Especially when you make the white pop and glow with all that unbelievable power. Its good practice. I end up drawing a lot of Super characters in my commissions so I gotta practice finding new ways to allow the viewer to feel their power. Color is one thing, but I’m gonna need to make sure I do some aura work too… eh, next time.
Pretty happy with this one. I got another excuse to draw one of my favorite characters, I get to knock Overclocked Nicole and Phage off my never drawn “To Do List”, plus I got a “Blast Processing” line of code in there, so I get bonus points for that.
That’s a good day’s work right there.
Ok, let me know what you guys think about this one. I need the feedback to help gauge where I am at in getting back to commission work. Also, I would really like to hear from you fans of the Archie comics. Drawing them in my free time is my little way of keeping their memories alive. If we can show the world how important some of these characters are to the Sonic mythos, we might see them again down the line. You never know.

Nice work. It gives off a "Good vs. Evil vibe" which I like. It reminds of when Phage was first introduced. Her looks and vague intro gave off a sense mystery. Who was this entity, where did she come from, and what did she want? Was she a new player/ Faction in the world? I was intrigued and wanted to know what happened next. Then I was disappointed when she revealed herself to be just another one of Eggman's minions. And of how cool Nicole looked in that powered up form. Sorry for rambling but this art just brought all those memories back.
