Considering the relationship between Atlus and SEGA, I honestly could not resist doing an image like this one. SEGA Sammy’s acquisition of Atlus has marked a new beginning for the house that Sonic built. One focused on quality, rather than deadlines. The prime example of this mantra is Atlus’ premiere title, and its finally ready to see the light of day. (at least overseas)
Every once in a while you see a game come along that has an opportunity to define its entire genre. I truly believe Atlus has a chance to deliver such a title with Persona 5. Their track record is near peer-less and it’s great to finally see their efforts culminate on a large scale release. From the trailers of P5 you can already tell their attention to detail will boarder on insanity as they ensure every aspect of the experience is examined and sharpened. Insert obligatory “dat UI tho”.
I have certainly been made a believer in the Persona franchise after my playthrough of P4 Golden. Persona 5 may very well be the game all other JRPGs are measured against, and considering some of the major titles in the same field that have/will be released this year… that is saying a lot.
What makes the release of P5 even more special is that we know big bro SEGA is watching. This release will fundamentally effect future Sonic development as they will apply the lessons learned here to their own flagship titles moving forward.
Best of luck to Atlus and I am strongly pulling for this new entry in the hallowed Persona series. It’s a great time to live under the SEGA banner.
