Seam stylization is something I'm particularly fascinated by because the style you choose implies a different sort of texture! Lately, I've really been having a lot of fun with both my seam styles and I'm kind of curious what other people like!
I have a poll going on twitter right now which you can catch here. Or you can just post here. Up to you!
Personally, I've always had a liking for the deep seams because they imply such a profound puffiness and softness at the same time. The realistic seams are fun though because the final product actually looks a lot more real? Both are a lot of fun for me!

It's a battle between making a style distinctively /yours/ and... well, has anyone ever made a point of questioning it before, or are you questioning yourself?
It... well, 'seams' you've been busy contemplating this.
... I'll show myself out. :D
Personally, both are great, imho. The realistic design /does/ look realistic, but sometimes it's all about, as above, sticking to your own style. It's hard to really judge without sounding... err... judge-ey! :)

That's certainly a very interesting argument! I think it's important to note that I'm actually perfectly happy with both styles. I'm not trying to cater to anyone in particular by doing the realistic seams! For me, one of the most important factors in mostly all of my drawings is how easily you can extrapolate them into a real life context. My favorite pictures have always been the ones where you can practically reach in and feel it with your hands. In other words, I'm not trying to draw realism just for the sake of realism, but rather, because I love things that feel real to me :D
You do make an excellent point that having a unique style is incredibly beneficial, but to that end, I see both deep seams and realistic seams as my own unique style since the way I draw it is not something I see often elsewhere. Regardless, your input is quite fascinating so thank you for it C:

Interesting, very interesting...
I suppose the deep seems have a "less inflated" look to them, making them look softer and more huggable, while the realistic seams are puffier, I guess it's up to your preference and what the character is going to look like is what matters though
