This was a Christmas present for my older brother this year.
When we were kids, he use to have an original Luke Skywalker figure, that had long since lost its lightsaber, and whose head and hand were chewed off by a dog. As he grew out of his toys, I inherited them, and this was my only Skywalker toy until the late 90's. He sported a paper head and paperclip lightsaber for years, and found himself quietly replaced with other, more functional, toys as the years went by. He was also one of the only Star Wars toys of mine that wasn't stolen when I moved a few years back.
The original figure was a 1977 Luke Skywalker (made by Kenner), and the head and left hand were taken from a Power of the Force 1990's Luke Skywalker that I picked up for a dollar at a comic shop (Hasbro), with the lightsaber from an Anakin Skywalker figure that I believe was from Attack of The Clones that I got at a thrift store (which had a retractable lightsaber that should have been the one Luke gets from Kenobi).
After cleaning, repainting and spray-finishing the whole figure, I carefully glued his body back together and mounted him in a shadow box.
