So, at one point point in the campaign Noon got overpowered and killed. That was the most most impactful and painful experience in DnD I had up to date. For the following week I was so down as if like if my real life pet died. I made a new character sheet but excused myself from the next session to take a break.
My party wouldn't take it though. They made alliances with powerful factions and with one dangerous divine being to put together a grand heist plan in order recover Noon's body and bring him back. That session was recorded and when I listened to it later, I cried when our DM played https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZfMFyrJ2kA when sadness turned into hope and they got a whole rebel army on their side. Everyone on the party was set on kicking Noon in the butt for dying when they bring him back. Then the friendly rebel leader NPC turned to her army and delivered my favorite lines of speech: "Actually how about we all make a line? You've all read the book, we all know who Noon Moon is! How about we all gather and kick that mutt in the butt so he learns to not do anything stupid ever again!?" and the crowd cheered. They were bringing me back to life just to kick me to death again... and I couldn't be happier!
Anyway, it's been kind of a running joke about the parallels between Noon and Sora from Kingdom hearts. Bacon of Light Paladin, dummy, "My friends are my power!" kind of character (canine Pack Tactics literally improved his aim when his buds were close). Due to very unusual circumstances of his death, he couldn't just be simply brought back to life even if they got the body. They had to free the soul too, so our DM decided there would do something like "Dive to the heart" process. This Station of Awakening is a one of the maps we drew for that soul recovery mission. I've always wanted to draw one of I honestly couldn't be happier with how it turned out ^^ Full of in-character, in-campaign references.
Noon was rescued and brought back to life, but not without a sacrifice. His best friend and two other personally important NPCs perished in the process. That marked a strong change in Noon's development.
Anyway, pro tip: do NOT split the party! No matter how prepared you think you are, things will probably go wrong!

Oh yeah, that's the most important parallel between him and Sora that I forgot to mention. He had four souls of friendly celestials recovering inside his heart and that's why three of them died as a result of his own death. One of them managed to recover and go back to life half a day beforehand though so at least not everyone was lost. Still, poor doggo u.u
