EOCostello has very kindly taken in an injured racing pigeon, who he has dubbed "Squit" after the Animaniacs "Goodfeathers" character. While waiting for the owner to claim Squit, the patient is cheerfully eating, drinking and pooping on the local newspaper. Try doing THAT with a news website! Zeph ©

I grew up with the Hartford Courant and the Willimantic Chronicle, a couple of rather old newspapers. The Courant had a competitor, the Hartford Times, which was run by the Travelers Insurance Company (they also started the local NBC radio and CBS television affiliates -- WTIC). The rivalry was so odious, that even after Travelers threw in the towel as regards the newspaper business, anything Travelers did was reported in the worst possible light by the Courant.
