Okay, before anybody says anything, I am calling dibs on the Badnik Halloween buckets. Consider it copyrighted. Call it trademarked, heck, I even took a marker to it and wrote my name on the tag. Original Idea, do not steal
lol
Seriously though I love those things. Probably my favorite thing about this entire image.
Okay, so I promised those of you that were nice enough to vote in that poll I hosted something pretty cool for Halloween. I don't aim to disappoint and seeing how the Trick or Treating Freedom Fighters was the run-away winner of the poll, I think it was pretty obvious as to what I was going to draw.
I love drawing pictures like this. I get to use my imagination on so many levels. Choosing who each character would dress up as, what kind of gear they would have in tow and how they each would interact on the page. So much goes into images like this and when it all comes together its a beautiful thing.
So lets talk costumes. Big's speaks for itself. Seriously, I couldn't think of a more fitting costume for the guy. There aren't too many characters capable of filling that power suit. It was seriously fun to draw. Antoine too, in full SwatBot garb was also a blast. He's got that infamous sign with him, which really brings the whole costume together.
Knuckles is rocking the Enerjak. Of course its the Dark Enerjak variant (the only variant worth drawing IMO). The glorious golden one is as fearsome as ever here. The Glow-in-the-dark Master Emerald tote in of itself could probably win a costume contest or two. Next up is good ol Rotor. He's stylin pretty hard in that Mammoth Mogul get up. He makes a pretty good Mogul actually. I really like how his tusks worked out.
Sally is coming in with her Mecha outfit. That's enough to strike fear into many of boys and girls. I didn't have to design too much to make this one work. Still, I'm happy with the idea and execution. Same goes for Nicole. She too is sporting a look she herself owned in the comics. The Iron Nicole is a throwback to her time as a villain, and I even threw in the Iron Queen's staff in there for good measure. Not sure when it started, but I can never seem to separate Iron Nicole and that staff. I guess I just got attached to the idea of her having it.
Bunnie rings in as a more recent Villain, Zeena the Zeti. She's one of the few characters who has the hair to pull that kind of costume off. Bunnie actually makes for quite a fine stand in. She came out really well. Cream, hiding under that classic bedsheet costume, went to the other end of the spectrum to pull out a villain from the series heyday. Hyudoro, or as some of you probably know him better as, the Sandopolis Ghost makes for a great halloween costume. All you need is that sheet and a pair of scissors.
Amy shows up to the party as Tikal. That was another really fun one to do. Styling up Amy's iconic bangs to make Tikal's dreadlocks took me a minute to get just right, but that came out perfect. Cheese's Cyan Wisp imitation is also pretty spot on. His bowtie is a dead giveaway (I couldn't bring myself to hiding that) but I fell in love with the idea of making him a Wisp so it had to be done.
Tails clearly had his tool set on hand when he build that replica Emerl costume. Its pretty sweet in the overall level of detail that went into it. Its just the kind of thing I would expect out of the kit when Halloween rolls around. The same goes for the Blue Blur, as of course, he's dressed as himself. Or rather, his alter-ego, The Sneak. Ninja duds are never a poor choice to go with, and Sonic more than fills out that costume. Lookin good Sonic.
And I simply can't end this without talking about the treat buckets. Sonic's Motobug, Bunnie's Rhinobot, Sally's Nebula and Tails Eggmobile w/ Checker Wrecker Ball combo (x2 the buckets for x2 the candy) all are exceedingly glorious. I got into a little bit of a contest with my bro while I was drawing this. Each one of us just kept upping the ante.
So that wraps that up. Thanks a lot for the support and thanks for voting in the poll. I am always interested in seeing what you guys want me to draw in my free time, so I might try this again in the future sometime.
I guess I'm out for now. I'll leave you guys with a link to my price chart. I love drawing Sonic stuff, but I'm willing and able to tackle any character and any franchise. If your interested in nabbing a commish, then give me a ring.
