A very solid light 'Mech built for assaults, this bad boy is fully capable of going toe to toe with 'Mechs twice its size. While one of the older OmniMechs by the Clans, its resiliency and ferocity have kept it in its ranks alongside its younger sister 'Mech, the Cougar.

I think you're assuming a lot to say I'm better than average. XD
It just takes a good map with an obscene amount of topography, a few overladen fatties carrying too much armor and too many guns...
And then you get to munch on soft, chewy rear armor. ^v^;
MekTek finally released the legal free version of MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries. Have you got it yet?

THe version in circulation right now is patched to use a different set of servers that no longer rely on Zonematch. It's pretty awesome. Patched version now includes a tremendous number of canon battlemechs and tons of new equipment, much of which has been torn right from original canon BattleTech. The next patch coming out is supposed to include even more.

The squat profile makes it a harder target for assault chassis to hit at close ranges. If you can keep speed up and either closely monitor heat or deal with severe ammunition limits on a pair of large ballistic weapons, it makes a very, very good attrition chassis for paring down your archetypical Atluses and Daishis in urban maps or heavily cratered lunar/martian maps. Particularly in team-only radar.
It's really the only way an underweight chassis *can* take on an Atlas. The smaller, faster and more nimble machines can maneuver, under the right pilot, to take advantage of the soft, chewy rear armor on an assault chassis.
Of course, an Atlas' slow turn rate and relatively inhibiting torso rotation puts it at a particular disadvantage to the Anklebiter.
It's tough to do, but it's downright suicidal to go toe-to-toe with a heavy or some of the lighter assaults with 360-degree torso twist using one of these. And when you do find potential prey, you've gotta be crazy on the throttle to stay right in the target's dead spot no matter how they maneuver. It's tricky to get down, but once you can, you're the holy terror of the battlefield.

You've gotta get into the right servers. Pop snipers are always the bane of the game, and they don't ever seem to realize how lame they are, but all the same... In the right map, you have to remember, that the anklebiters are their worst fear.
When I was still with RGMU, on the rare occasion we'd end up stuck playing against a bunch of guys who just wanted to pop-snipe, we'd run our entire team composite of either light-gauss chain boats or ALRM boats, with the exception of two players. One of these players two was always rocking a heavy-class brawler designed to castrate any enemy lights that slipped in behind the firing line, and the other was usually a Firemoth/Dasher or a FLea packing a NARC beacon and some times a flare launcher.
Though the flare launcher got fazed out once 3.01 came out and the cockpit camera could no longer be occluded by a burning object stuck to the canopy of a battlemech's in0game model.

Hmm, interesting. Sometimes someone gets a little bit brave and charges me wit ha firefly, but I feel that they take predictable paths. I don't know why, but some people decide to use power armor against an assault mech. Now, I don't know if they're actually confident in their abilities, but I don't think they should be in the game. I take joy in running them over!
Thanks for the tips though. I'll be sure to use them next time I'm in the battlefield!
