These little guys...with brownish black stems that are thin like string, were found growing among mossy places in the forest. I found some springing out of dead/fallen trees, which had a type of moss on it that looked like fuzzy pine needles. However, I also found these guys growing on the ground in certain places where different types of moss was found. They are super tiny, and from a distance look like white paint drops...as if someone had splatted some paint.

I unfortunately do not know the names of these mushrooms native to Maine nor the name of the moss I painted here. But everything seen here is a real species that can be found in the Maine woods.
