Okay, so a couple of years ago I was kind of almost drifting off to sleep and this character popped into my head. It was a pink fluffy anthro dragon gal with huge ears. I wrote down a note about her the next day in my list of potential drawing ideas:
That fluffy pink anthro dragon with the big ears I dreamt (?) about!
Well, that was indeed a couple of years ago. Since I'm adding to and subtracting from that document all the time I couldn't tell you for certain if "a couple of years" is accurate, but that's how it feels. And in all the times I looked through that big ol' list and saw that one note, the mental image of her never went away. I kept thinking, well why don't I draw her at some point? Well, yesterday I decided to FINALLY do something about it. I drew this page of sketches (link). As you can see, I had the basic idea in place already, and details like the cheek fluff and eyelashes were cemented fairly quickly. The butterfly wings were in fact not a part of the original at all, but I felt like feathered wings were maybe a little passe. And I was aware that she bore some resemblance to Flip already, so I wanted to distinguish her better and the butterfly wings seemed to work out. The big, and I mean BIG, bushy tail was similarly trumped up to feel less obviously-dragony because I've done plenty of tails in the typical style already...
So yeah. But anyway, I drew that first page the night before last, and yesterday/last night I added to it with another page, this time refining the design. I also figured out some colours. The blue-green insides were for the sake of colour co-ordination; I'm not normally keen on furries being unnatural colours, but she's not supposed to be a real animal, so it's less... jarring? I dunno, I just feel like I've seen a lot of bright red foxes with green tongues and it's like... ech. In general I leaned heavily into a pastel aesthetic (still kind of in the mood for pastels after my last upload), but the wings broke away from that a little. More on that in a moment. The choker is a new thing for me too, but it just seemed to fit her for some reason.
Overall I'm very happy with her (MEGA cutie), but I'm not 100% confident about the wing patterns and colours (mm-hmm), or the bracelet thingies, so I'm open to suggestions. Also names! I'm thinking something cute and silly-sounding that starts with F... again, open to suggestions. (Preferably not something that's a real name already.)
These sketches were all preparation for a proper pic of her, but I kind of got carried away. However, even after effectively stalling by making extra sketches, I'm still not sure what said proper pic would be like...
