• Biography: Jolene is one of the many ½ mermaids born to Junichiro & Palutena, being part of their 4th batch of the hybrids. Jolene came a week after Kestrel was born and just a week before Miyako was conceived. Jolene hung around with her siblings whenever their father had tales to tell. Jolene took inspiration from a story from the Legend of Zelda universe and opted to learn how to handle a sword & lance. At first, she planned on being a knightess, but stumbled upon a wild horse one day and attempted to tame it. However, it was quickly discovered that the horse was an escaped horse trained to be like the Mares of Diomedes and thus had an unnatural taste for human flesh. To ensure his daughter didn’t get killed, Juni came up with a plan to lock it away with nothing to eat but hay & carrots to divert it from the unnatural diet in favor of a natural one. His scheme worked after 7 days and the horse lost its taste of human flesh and had a fondness of leafy greens like all horses. It was at that point Jolene made the attempt to befriend the now tamed horse and was successful within moments. The horse was then adopted by Jolene who proceeded to use it as a mount, having decided to become a Cavalier. Jolene showed natural talent for fighting on horseback and her horse, now christened Secretariat, showed no signs of wear and tear each time he was ridden into battle. Traveling with her sisters, sans Eurydice at first, into the Fire Emblem universe where she was enlisted into the Gaia Army, becoming one of its top generals. However, during the siege that eventually lead to the losing of Gaia Castle to the Supreme Forces and the near annihilation of the Gaia Army, Jolene lost one of her closest friends and attempted to avenge her but was forced to retreat when the enemy became too numerous. To this end, she was quick to enlist in the newly formed Gaia Alliance with her other sisters who had all survived. She got her chance to slay her friend’s killer in one of the Alliance’s battles and continues to help serve her friends & family whenever possible. Jolene, as one might expect from anyone in Juni’s family, is a kind & caring individual who strives to do the right thing. However, she does have a temper and is quick to get aggressive if provoked enough. She has a great love for horses and love doing anything that involves horseback as long as it’s humane. She will not tolerate anyone who eats horsemeat and treats these magnificent creatures cruelly. A walking encyclopedias on equines.
• Abilities: As a ½ mermaid, Jolene can take on her mermaid form when she enters the water. In the water, her dodge/avoid gain a good boost but her movement doesn’t gain any increase due to already having a good movement rate. However, she must first dismount in order to enjoy these bonuses. Jolene enjoys good growth rates in her Strength, Defense, and Skill with a decent growth in speed and luck. However, her magic needs a boosting as well, but her resistance has no trouble playing catch up. In training in the ways of both Ylissean and Nohrian Cavaliers, Jolene has access to both skill sets. Like all cavaliers, Jolene’s weak to weapons that deal effective damage to beast & mounted units. She starts with the following weapons and skills.
o Iron Sword: An affordable sword that is easy to wield. Has 40 uses.
o Iron Lance: An affordable lance that is easy to wield. Has 40 uses.
o Javelin: A throwing spear used to attack enemies indirectly. Has 25 uses.
o Stomping Tantrum: Jolene’s personal skill. If Jolene initiates an attack against or is being attacked by an enemy with an effective weapon, she will deal an extra 5% damage to the enemy after attacking or counterattacking.
o Canto: Allows a unit that has not moved its full movement range to move the remaining amount at the end of its turn. Does not activate after attacking or using a staff.
o Discipline: Doubles the amount of weapon experience gained by the user.
o Elbow Room: The unit deals +3 damage when standing on a space with no terrain effects.
