TwitterWhen animals considered to be "prey" by the apex predators of the world begin to band together for safety, where does it leave those caught in between?
Namely, a pair of pine martens, carnivores and flesh-eaters themselves, but small enough to be considered food for the bears, wolves and gluttons of the forest and field. They're on a journey to seek sanctuary with the rabbits, squirrels and other prey that have gathered to Oren--but they don't know if welcome or condemnation will meet them.

I'll still be posting here, just skipping next week since I'm out of town and I can't schedule it to update on this site.
Patreon will still be posting, however, so it'll be two weeks ahead of everyone else now, and will likely keep growing gradually ahead of the rest of the places I post.
As far as physical copies-- someday, hopefully!

You're kidding me right? This is sanctuary for prey animals. They have to protect themselves from predators to stay alive, that doesn't make them bad guys. It's amazing how stupidly most of you are reacting to this. Also Zootopia is a modern metropolis, this isn't. If anything this is almost a prequel to Zootopia, something that people have joked about on previous pages.
If the prey mature at intelligent creature rates, and the preds keep eating them, they will kill all the prey very quickly or the prey will kill all the preds. Once everyone is armed, it is going to be a war and it will only end with one side dead or in cages. Most likely the preds will all be dead in short order since they prey outnumber them a hundred to one and have weapons. It is not sustainable.
That's not true. The sanctuary's primary defense is scaring predators away with the impression that it's a bear's territory. If predators catch on that it's a farce, a pack of wolves would decimate the place if not the first time, then the second time once word got out. The balance in nature is that prey vastly outnumber predators. Prey still live outside the sanctuary and will continue to do so.

Fair enough, but if preds everywhere are eating sapient prey, once weapons tech becomes commonplace there will inevitably be an apocalyptic war unless some sort of accord is reached. By all rights there should be one going on right now. Are there even dumb animals in this setting?
The have spears. There isn't much "weapons tech" to speak of beyond pointy rocks. They're also still mostly pretty tiny compared to predators. If word get out, it's only a matter of time before their secret society falls. Also none of the animals in this comic seem dumb, they all talk and have relationships with each other.
Well, let's say that the spear tech becomes common. The result? All the preds are dead in a year. All of them. Fifty rabbits will kill one bear and there are hundreds are rabbits for every bear. Ten rabbits with spears beat one wolf with a spear. There is no way any sort of civilized society can exist when one faction is literally eating the other. Either the prey become slaves and food animals, all the preds die or the preds find something else to eat the way they did in Zootopia. Those are our choices.
