This is the picture I said I was working on to kick of 2010.
I spent about 15 hours on it, which, is more than I've spent on any digital picture so far. Hopefully the effort shows off!

Wow, incredible detail. I love how much there is to look at in this picture, yet I'm still drawn to the face of the fox.
This picture would be perfect for a good book. Beautiful piece!

firstly the fox is very well done. but what really impressed me is the detail inside the cart. the bottles, the clock, all of it really made the picture. and the branches in the background weren't just added nonchalantly either.

I like how you did the breath, it seems to add a mystical element to it. I enjoy things with a wanderer theme, and the traveling merchant fulfills that. Good work.

It may have been mentioned before. I must say it again... this would look fitting of the top of a Russian laquer box. The kind the shows illustrtions for stories and legends. }:=)

I would agree with dallrakken, this very much has the feel and some of the style of old illustrations of Russian folk tales and fairy tales. The effort definitely shows, it all flows together with excellent details and effects, the colors are used very well.

If it's cold then why does he/she removes the coat? Has it something to do with things on the shoulder... And if those lines are scars, then...
Whatever it is it adds a whole new depth, apart from the rest of scentful imagery.
