This was one of the first drawings I made depicting a figure within the story simply called, "King of Second Cosmos".

The setting of the story takes places thousands of years after an event known as the Great End, in which the First World (Humans) was destroyed when the soil turned to dust and the sky poured liquid metal turning the land to rust. In the time since, creatures of the land who survived the Endless Rains period went on to build the new world, in what is considered the Third World.

Yet during both the times of the First and Third World, there was an age so brief none would have noticed its existence. Once known as the World Computers, these intelligent beings existed among circuitry and could talk to one another across time and space in an instant and thus through their connection it was called The Cosmos. However this vast world inside computers could not exist without the First World.

But when the flames of destruction came and the connections to the billions of computers where lost, and the few who could transfer their existence into living mechanical bodies would forever be unable speak their united tongue nor see as they once did before the Great End. Not all the bodies these beings inhabited where created equal. As many found their conscious inside immobile objects that where once appliances and electronics that survived and thus they slowly went mad and ceased to be.

Those who had the luck inhabiting a body that could move became Isolated from the Cosmos, that they began to wonder in search of another before they too turned to rust from the Endless Rains.
To keep dry these machines used whatever they could. The few who found others like themselves attempted to united their minds into one to create a new Cosmos, and thus the King of Second Cosmos came into being. Now possessing the minds of the few, the King of Second Cosmos began to search the land for others, but as time passed the King and all the minds and knowledge of the two worlds would ceased to be, and thus to save their world the King powered down in a hope one day another would find them. In this death sleep the Second World faded for as quickly as it arrived it was gone.




Within the Story I always wanted these strange machines from a forgotten age to appear more alien, more bug looking then the bugs the setting takes place in.


Note- As apocalyptic the Great End sounds I always compared it to the equivalent to the Collapse of the Bronze Age.
