Gonnols are alien beasts that are from another terra-planet. Their hair is smooth and very short, except for the cheeks (more prominent in males, unless modified by cutting/lack of shedding) and the tail. They are polydactyl, as they need to sometimes use their small thumbs to pry open food (they occasionally eat fruits but prefer to eat meat) and it gives them extra balance. These creatures do not climb like how a cat might, but sometimes can be found perching on large branches in trees (their back legs provide a mighty force when jumping, and can leap up to 4 metres on average, but the record is 6 metres). Their hooves are mainly designed as a defence against competitors, and are only used when they are not in a position to leap at the intruder with their claws.
A Gonnol of a healthy weight is usually barrel-shaped in the chest, with slight plumage/fat reserves positioned at the front to help with impact when colliding with objects (a common competitor for food/territory, the Akel, beat other animals by grabbing them and smashing them towards the floor or nearby trees), and their body slims at it approaches the hips. An underweight Gonnol will have smaller frontal plumage and a sharper concave stomach; whilst an overweight Gonnol will have a more swollen stomach, with slightly larger plummage, overall ruining the streamline of the body, however for domesticated Gonnols this is less of a concern and do not present any health issues unless they become obese.
In addition they have two mouths; the one at the muzzle is for food and intricate calls (with omnivorous teeth and tongue) whilst the smaller mouth at the neck is for liquids and basic noises (such as squeaks and gasps). They also have two eyes, the larger eyes are for basic function whilst the smaller eyes can see in infrared and are mainly used for hunting and tracking.
They are generally quirky animals, with very expressive faces and almost inquisitive to a fault. These creatures love to run around and scale rocky surfaces, often using their plumage to their advantage and landing paws-first onto their chests, which often looks quite amusing.
(I might add more creatures to this list sometime soon, tell me if you want more sketches of the Gonnols!)
