Your photography makes it look like some sort of lost paradise. Is this uuh what they call HDR photography? The tonal range seems quite broad with only the brightest lights getting washed out and none of the shadows really being completely obscured. Doesn't look like my kind of place, but just from the way you're able to show it it kind of makes me want to just go there, hehe.
Technically, no, it is not a high-dynamic range photo. Honestly, I don't think people give camera sensors enough credit; the 14-bit RAW images DSLRs output hold a huge amount of detail which can be seen be lightening and darkening the image, which is what I did with this photo using the Curves, Levels and Shadows and Highlights tools in Photoshop CS4 after converting the 14-bit RAW image to a 16-bit .TIF before finally converting it to an 8-bit .JPG.
This is a fantastic picture and I'm mad at myself for not looking at it sooner! My first thought upon seeing it was it, to me, kinda resembled what Mars could look like if we'd managed to populate and atmospheritize it. Don't ask me why I thoguht that, but nonetheless, very cool. I love the hills / mountains in a background, they seem to hold mystery. I want to explore them. X3
I see some light sources on the far left and the far right, they look like campfires or explosions. o_o May I ask what exactly those are?
