I noticed there was one important thing I never really thought about touching on in creating the Tigran race - mating rituals. So here I have an image explaining that. I'd drawn this up at MMF and decided to color it when I had the time, practice a few shading techniques I never really thought of before...very happy with how it turned out. :3
As the tribes are constantly struggling to survive and/or warring with one another, support of one's own is a very important thing. Being responsible for a family on top of that is a tough job, so in order to prove they can handle support of their people and each other, Tigrans in a number of tribes hold a month-long trial. In this trial, the engaged are required to present one another with something significant that proves they can care for one another.
While failure to do so on either or both ends isn't something that would stop a marriage, it proves weakness to the tribe and most likely their mate, which could lead to said marriage being looked down on. There's always the chance to try again in another month too, so even in failure, there's still a chance to do things right.
