I really should stop creating characters and just stary the damn story... But in my defense this guy does have an important role to play.
Anyway, meet Nijiko, a dear friend of Akarai's whose parents run a shrine in the village.
Eyes are a window into the soul, and they can reveal much about a person. Kitsune often give names based on the newborn's eyes, and Nijiko is no exception. His eyes, being different colours (as well as changing hue across each eye and depending on the time of day) was taken as a sign that he has an affinity for light and he was named "Child of the Rainbow", only, this is traditionally seen as a feminine name and his behavior does little to refute this.
