Got this idea from
for a Decade meme, thought it would be interesting to show not only how my drawing style has changed, but how much the subject matter has varied.
A bit more about the individual pieces, for anyone who cares to know:
I have to admit, the picture for 1999 is actually from 1998...I don't have anything on my computer from 99', and my old portfolio is out in the shed still packed away. So you get a 98'...though its still a good example of what I was drawing that year. I had just started developing my wolf queen character/alter ego, Lupa, and this was one of the first pictures I drew of her. She's supposed to look like me there. I think I used a photo ref. I was also really into horror themed art, particularly werewolves.
2000 is another picture of Lupa...this one was referenced mostly from some art in a video game magazine. I was still trying to find a style I liked back then, so I found pictures I liked in gaming mags and went from there.
2001 is a vampire character I had made for a guy I was dating at the time. He was supposed to be the love interest for Lupa.
2002...this was when I discovered Top Cow art and started emulating the style of Michael Turner, particularly his illustrations for Witchblade and Fathom. I was really starting to draw humans a lot, and I continued to develop the story of Lupa.
2003...As I delved further into Lupa's world, I wanted to branch out and try to draw some of the creatures that lived there. I had seen the Lord of the Rings and by this time, and I had become obsessed with Fantasy art. The picture shown here was actually referenced from a little dragon statue that I still own to this day.
2004...This was the high point of my elf period. I loved all things elven (thanks to Lord of the Rings), and I drew them constantly. This picture is part of a calander I made of...you guessed it, elves. ^.^ This was also the year I was introduced to anthro art. I experimented a bit with it but never produced anything noteworthy.
2005...Now I was getting into some High-Fantasy art...mermaids, dragons, faeries...this picture is of a mermaid which is still to this day one of my favorite pieces.
2006...This was kind of a slow year for me art-wise. I was struggling to find my muse, but I did manage a few pieces. This is one of Lupa, who I hadn't drawn for a while. I was also starting to get a bit more into faerie art around this time.
2007...I made TONS of art this year. Everything from faeries to humans to anthro. I was really getting into the anthro. I started with mostly male wolves with wings that resembled birds, part of a race I call the Alcarin. This guy, named Agaron, was one of my first.
2008...Nearly everything I drew last year had something to do with either the Alcarin (shown here) or just anthro art in general, though I did manage to squeeze in some non-anthro art as well. I made my first ACEO's last year and also tried out a bit of photography with my rats.
2009...Yep, mostly anthro art this year. =) I'm starting to find my niche now and I still have a lot of practicing ahead of me, but I'm confident that the next decade will get me where I want to be with my art. But you never know, an artist's muse is a fickle thing. ;) Here's to another 10 years of exploration. Happy new year/decade! =D

I have a lot of stuff on DeviantArt and a long time ago I had some posted on Elfwood. My DA address is http://luthiennightwolf.deviantart.com/ , but I've long since forgotten how to get to my Elfwood page.
