The little pup was running around the enclosure at the San Diego Zoo, grabbing dog toys and throwing them around, and even trying to stick his muzzle out through the fencing at me and the other visitors. When one of the zookeepers came by in a golf cart and playfully talking with him he scampered up the rocks as a larger dog came over. "Uh-Oh Here comes Mom!...Or Dad. I cant tell from here."*
While the New Guinea Singing Dogs look like domestic dogs, they aren't, and breeding with domestic animals is actually one of the threatening factors to the species. They are one of the few animals outside of the Giant Pandas who had a "Quiet Please" sign outside of their enclosure. Not sure why. o.o
The New Guinea Singing Dog is found in New Guinea, and is classified as "Vulnerable" by the IUCN.

*I posted this originally assuming it was the mother. It was pointed out by MeshGearRal that "Dude, bigger dog has a penis." I finished the zookeepers quote to also reflect this. She was pretty sure it was the mother. Guess not.

Heheh, I love singers. The reason that you shouldn't make noise near the enclosure is that they will start howling to see if they can get louder than you, then from what I have observed from having two of them myself, they will have a competition to see who can get the loudest. .A.
