Ahh, fantasy armor. Covers the visible shiny parts. Ignores:
* The crotch(ow)
* The kidneys(owww)
* The feet(shoes are for humans!)
* The face(helmets are for non-main characters)
* The tail(no furry in their right mind would aim for the tail. it's blasphemy)
* The butt(because we want to see it!)

Note that on Female characters, the Reverse Armor Postulate is in effect:
"Female Warriors in Fantasy are as well protected as the Inverse of their armor coverage. If they are hit on bare skin(especially on boobs, butt, or other such Desirable Places), the strike will do no damage. If they are hit on their armor, it will do great injury"

I can't imagine flying well in platemail. Sure, it's more agile than you'd think, but even Light Platemail on a human is like 50 pounds. It's a Lot.

Yeah... Something like this happens very often. XD

But just to go through this.
* The crotch: Chrononids can resists high amount of pain and this area is normally good covered with scales. If you really hit them there, regardless of if it's a chrononid or an Istrala, then they will just get very angry at you. You don't want a three meter high lizard to be angry at you, or a gargantuan Istrala in this case.
* The kidneys: They have, beside the pain resistance, a high healing and immune system. Even if one kidney fails the other can support the body until the damaged one is repaid or at least out of danger.
* The feet: Chrononids don't use shoes or anything like that. They just don't like them because they don't like the feeling. Humans are seeing shoes as too comfortable and safe to not use them everywhere.
* The face: Fun fact: I have a helmet but refused to wear it. It's just a personally preference here.
* The tail: Chrononids are using the tail as a weapon too. It isn't weaponized but they know how to use all their body part in a fight.
* The butt: The but is in this case under the body and so naturally covered from the tail and a battle ready body in the front. Here again they just wouldn't be happy if you hit them there.

In the end I accepted only armor because it's a regulation of the military which I'm a part of. The regulations says that every unit has to wear at least a chest, leg and arm armor when they are going to operate outside of the base. The exception are soldiers who have to wear full armor except they are on an undercover operation.
I'm basically a technician and on an undercover operation.

Hope this makes it a bit more clear for this case but yes, I have to admit. Fantasy armor is often strange and irrational.

And to the female armor: Yes, that's often ridiculous. The man in a tank like tin can of steal and the female in an iron bikini, belly free design of course. XD

Fantasy armor 101, the less it covers and the sexier the character is while wearing it the more defense the item offers
