So it's a picture of one of the 1000s of Darkstone Realms foxes that has roamed in the fandom... what's so special about this?
This is the very first fursuit photo taken of me back at Halloween 2001 by my late Grandfather. It was only two and a half weeks since I received this and was the first time my grandparents and anybody that night saw me with it.
I sold the suit in 2005 when I proceeded to commission Kodi (then with Arend Studios) for the current fox you see today.

What Number was that one? I seem to remember back when the darkstone suits paved the way for folks to get into fursuiting that it became the running joke that so in so was "Darkstone Fox Number XX"
Funny that back in 2001 I began saving for a DS suit of my own and actually never saved enough to get one before they disappeared from the scene. Instead I took the $500 I had saved over the next 5 years and had Ashes made.

Yeah, the only issues I ever had was with the deluxe paws... the black kept coming off the claws and I had to retouch them with a marker everytime I planned to suit somewhere. Personally, I think the only commercial company that could outduel them in durability was Marylen's.
(And I have a kangaroo suit from them, along with a couple others I've bought then sold. So I have plenty experience with them.)

Ah, I never had the clawed paws, just the standard ones. Marylen's stuff is always dependable but at the time they were so much more money than the Darkstone Realms stuff that I couldn't justify the cost. These days you hardly see a "generic" fursuit roaming around anymore, so much new custom stuff out there!
