I picked up a new child this week.
I'm not yet certain on their sex just yet, because they need to go in for their sonogram. I'm getting a strong male vibe though.
Species is Heloderma Horridum, or the Sonoran Desert, Mexican Beaded Lizard and yes they are venomous.
(Gila monsters, but large subspecies)
Temperament is super reasonable and I'm hoping I can breed them one day.
I'll drop at least one more picture of their cute little self.

I used to have a pet Gila in Tucson, named him Cuddles. Cuddles wasn't permitted to be caged since you need a federal permit to own one. But I also bred lizards for the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum, and had a walled back yard, and since that wasn't a cage, able to keep him back there.
Cuddles was oddly, friendly, never bit me once, acted more like a beaded skinned Iguana that had a venomous bite. He would scratch at the sliding door to be let in, often demanding a tribute, scrambled egg, or cooked chicken. Would sleep under the couch in the corner, that later had a heating pad to keep him comphy. Wasn't uncommon that I could be sitting on the couch and he'd climb up and cuddle in my lap and snooze (Thus the name Cuddles).
Cuddles was a regular for years, over 24 inches in length, would spend the winter months inside, under his couch in burnation mode, occasionally coming out to eat or drink, or in need of skin booger removal . Then one day, he just never showed up for his hard boiled egg snack, never saw him again.
Saw many Gila's over the years, even got badly bit by a Juvie (Think vice grips with teeth), but never came across a Beaded lizard.
