He's an oversized beagle. Beagles are generally 20 - 25 lbs...he's 35 lbs of muscle. Got him when he was a year old. He's 7 now ^_^
He had a rough start. He's been shot, bitten, and beaten. He's got a detached retina from being shot, so he's completely blind in his left eye.
We didn't realize untill last year when he bit my mom in the face when she reached across his left side for the remote. Shocked the hell out of everyone, he's never bit mom, or even snapped at her. Turns out she startled him by reaching across his blind eye. We're still finding buckshot in the side of his head. The fur healed over it, so from time to time we find new ones to get removed. He's got bite marks on his head that's visible by the black marks on the skin. After the first week we got him, he tried jumping on my mom at the table. I said no...he curled up into a ball and started shaking...yea he was beaten. All I said was no, and he freaked out like that. I didn't scream it, just pointed jokingly, and said no...
He was out in the wild for a good time, because it shows in his personality. He made forts out of pillows for shelter (possibly the cutest thing he does). When we first got him we were running around the house and outside for a good 20 minutes, everyone thinking I already lost him...sigh...we found him in my mom's room, he borrowed under the pillows. We searched her room before hand, twice... He only burrows now during bad winds.
Jack's very friendly, he'll even give you his paw if you ask for it. He looks cute and adorable...which he is...^_^ but if you piss him off, he WILL snap. Most likely you deserved it. He has alot of patience, but don't push your luck.
He loves cuddling, which is okay...but he snaps if you wake him up. I can't count how many times that little bastard snapped at my leg because I shifted in my sleep. It's an automatic responce, he can't help it. Trainers say it's because he was out in the wild.
Earl stayed over for Christmas and Jack decided he wanted to sleep with him. I warned him about the snapping, and he laughed at it. Well at around 1 in the morning, while I'm in the next room on my laptop, I hear several profanities being yelled, followed by a thud. Next thing I know my dog opens the door to my room and curls up my bed. He snapped at Earl, HA! Turns out the thud was earl shoving the dog off the bed.
This is my little buddy, Jack. ^_^
