The moon was already descending in the sky after journeying all the way as high as it could. The cold wind from the night was blowing through the open door, making the drapes dance in a calm and soothing way.
Makalani was sitting, back to the opening, lifting his walking staff and tapping against an old papyrus he had fixed against the wall as best as he could. It was tilted slightly but it didn't seem to bother him nor the attentive pupil that had her eyes riveted to the symbols written on it. As the sick jackal was dragging the staff over each character, he spoke the word and had her repeat it and note it on her wax tablet.
It would have been a very unusual sight and a very sacrilegious one if anyone were to witness this scene. As it was against the laws of the Realm for a reptilian to know how to read and to write. But Maka took pity on this young lizard and took it onto himself to grant her knowledge.
He didn't really know why but it felt right to him and seeing her being so attentive and eager to learn were enough to convince him that in the end, it was the right thing to do...
Should be sleeping but i wanted to get this one out...
Why do i torture myself with dual light source, i'll never know.
Hope the story is not too bad, i like doing these bit of texts to give some context. Also even though i manage to name some characters, that lizard still has no name so i guess i'll have to work on that at some point.
