for me its about never leave home without a shirt pocket for notebook and pen.
(also bus pass and other essentials)
sturdy boots, not sneakers, for field work.
two reasons; one rattle snakes, and two, burrowing seed pods that find sneaker lace holes and irritate foot skin.
combined with solid colors that inconspicuously blend in with your surroundings are the 'look' for me.
lab coats are cool, though mostly as an indoor kind of uniform.
(don't think i've ever owned one, but then i'm not a rocket scientist either)

i know tenny runners, as we used to call them, before they became an expensive show off item,
have enjoyed a certain popularity since all the way back to the 1950s,
but i've never entirely understood why. their so call comfort i've always found to be a bill of goods.
