It IS a good strategy! I think I learned quite a bit about drawing when I was a kid by watching movement, motions on screen and sometimes in reverse if you can do it.
This looks like it came out well rendered and complete! The fabrics are vivid, which is cool, mine always look muddy :3

Oh in reverse sounds like it would be quite fun..mayhaps I should figure a way to give that a go.
And thanks Ishi! I'm glad you feel the fabrics are vivid, because I think I usually muddy them up as well. I get too ginger with the contrasting values and then smooth the life of them out :c Need to work on that still. I never have found yours to be muddy though!
