Not bad. I think that the background still needs some more work put into it though. The visible brush strokes are just as visible in the areas of the background nearest to the viewer as those areas farthest, making the background scenery look as if it's increasing in level of detail as you go farther, which looks a bit uncomfortable visually. The muted looking colours on the guy compared to the scenery in the background, coupled with the way the sand is coloured really makes him look like a statue. I would suggest making the sand a bit brighter, and more golden in appearance, and then add in a bit of subtle yellow radiosity on the guy from under. The sand itself could use a bit of hue and value variation, as no beach or shoreline is ever truely composed entirely of the same mixture of sand and other types of dirt.
The detail levels in the water were frustrating me. By the time I'd finished the character last night I just wanted to upload it and get it over with. Spent too long on this picture as is. But I will keep it in mind for the future, as I intend on doing similar things.
