The Mothra line is an ancient divine moth kaiju which is unique in that they do not require hosts to wield their power but instead form psychic links with members of the Reiss/Fritz bloodline, typically passing from generation to generation.
Mothra acts as a protector/guardian of the royal family and the innocents of Paradis, even willing to sacrifice themselves in order to keep the people safe.
The latest incarnation of Mothra was originally one of two larvae but the smaller twin died alongside the royal family and Queen Frieda, whom had cared for and bonded with the young kaiju.
The remaining larvae went into suspended animation via cocooning itself and finally emerged as a full grown adult when the hidden heir and the late Queen Frieda's bastard half-sister, Historia Reiss was brought to the palace, awakening the dormant psychic link between them.
The two are now inseparable, the now Queen Historia is rarely ever seen without her holy protector nearby.

Abilities
Psychic Ability: Mothra is one of the most powerful psychic creatures on record. She uses this power benevolently, to communicate with humans, or defensively, against her enemies.
Silk Attack: Mothra's natural defensive ability is to spit silk at enemies, which she uses to entrap, restrain and disorient her opponents.
Claws: Mothra uses her mantis-like clawed forelimbs in physical combat.
Stinger: Mothra possesses a wasp-like stinger on her thorax that is powerful enough to punch a hole through an opponents chest. While not lethal, the venom from Mothra's stinger is sufficient enough to immobilize and incapacitate an enemy kaiju.
Holy Light: Mothra can emit concentrated beams of beta-wave bioluminescence from the patterns on her wings. Mothra's beams are yellowish-white in colour and are powerful enough to completely dispel storm clouds. While they produce blinding light, Mothra does not use her Holy Light offensively, and seems to use them like a beacon to communicate with her allies.
Genetic Memory: Due to her psychic abilities, Mothra is able to transfer all her memories to her unborn offspring, essentially being reborn again after perishing like a phoenix from the ashes.

Observers Notes: It has been theorized that Mothra has some form of bond with Godzilla although this has not yet been confirmed nor tested. Further research is needed.
