I'm a huge Who fan - old and new series. But the current production is all BBC. About to launch into sixth season of new series- last Tenth Doctor story screened on New Years

true but isn't that how it is... shows that have lasted as long as DW always have trouble towards the end... i mean look at stargate.. well if you got that it was good but started to go bad around season 7 and just plummated from what i hear during seasons 9 and 10...
not so much. DW old series was deliberately killed by the BBC - not expanding their budget with inflation, cutting their number of episodes a year down to 13 1/2 hours, telling JN-T that sure, he could quit, but we'd have to kill the series if you do, and we don't quite have the budget to produce any of the other projects you want to do....
