Sorry I couldn't get this done in time for shading, guys. I was having a nightmare in terms of energy and motivation. So much so I might need to take a couple of weeks off to recharge my batteries. If someone would like to come up with some intermission content for me, let me know! I'll keep you guys posted.
A quick note for "insiders" on this one. As of this point in the timeline, Istrala have not demonstrated any ability to shapeshift, and knowledge of them (particularly outside of The Order) is incredibly slim. The average layperson just knows them as evil demons that stalk the roads at night. So, the town guard wasn't being stupid; he just had no frame of reference to draw upon and suspect there might be treachery afoot.
Second, no, an Istrala can't just change forms at will with no restriction. There are very specific rules to it, which will be explored as the story goes on. Ceteris paribus, consider shapeshifting as the exception rather than the rule in this universe. This is for all you lore junkies out there. <3
Anyway, not sure what else to say. I hope you liked the page, and that you'll enjoy the direction this chapter leads!

his name is rohan, aethyr is the name of the fallen angel from the little girls story, since she could only see what color he was and that he had wings (cause shes legaly blind that is to say she can see vague shapes and colors but not much else) she mistook him for said angel when he rescued her
and while it is true that rohan is likely a Tansu-Istrala (an Istrala who has suppressed there instincts more then most allowing them to retain a greater degree of there former self then most) this does not give him any particular unique abilities beyond basicly having a more level head then most of his ilk.
so long as he doesn't go into bloodlust mode anyway which he will any time he is exposed to alot of dark energy (that is to say whenever alot of other Istrala are around or hes hit by a concentrated blast of dark magic from another istrala)

again, that is true, but most other Istrala would have let her die, knowing that the original human had a corrupted mentality (killers, possibly rapists, etc), but Rohan was a kind and compassionate soul, and the white enyo probably bonded to him likely due to Rohan saving its life and being angered at its kind for it being left for dead and felt Rohan had a similar view after Rohan's friend was killed in front of him. the white enyo, now Rohan/Aethyr was unlike the other Istrala even before it found Rohan.
actualy there 'resonence point' was over rohan's desire to defend his friend, so your not far off the mark there but that does not provide him any unique abilities or powers, it just provides him with a unique station in the world, he may not even be the first 'good' istrala but most of them that are good likely live far away from humans and other istrala so they avoid harming anyone by mistake or geting caught up in needless fights with the paladins
and if given a choice in the matter by fate rohan probly would have eventualy decided to do the same thing, however hes being tuged along by the strings of destiny and its forcing him to see things that are makeing the idea of just going off and being a hermit less and less apealing, more and more hes seeing suffering and pain and more and more he will desire to see it ended
but once againt his gives him no particularly special powers, just a special mindset...now that special mindset may lead him TO special powers eventualy but for the moment he really isnt all that physicly unique.

or not, i honestly think were both expecting this to be a diffrent kind of story
your expecting a 'chosen one' story, where the main charicter is granted all these unique powers and such becuase they are the one, the chosen one , the one to lead the world to happiness and rainbows
i'm expecting the inverse trope, the unchosen one, the hero who is because he said ya know what 'fuck fate' i dont care if i havent been chosen im gonna do it anyway, and earns everything he has along the way thru wit, guile skill and a smantering of dumb luck.
